Bar Wotever is changing…

Our Weekly Queer meet up space, with show, community news and plenty of music, BAR WOTEVER is standing in front one of the BIGGEST and Scariest changes since we started this weekly event in 2005…

Tonight we celebrate our Ninth Year Birthday!

AND, we start Charging a Door Fee!

Come and celebrate with us! We invite you to a packed event, filled with SHOW with and by People we like and admire.

Yes, we need to move with the times and charge on the door for our events. Bar Wotever was proud and free for nine whole years, but after a lot of hazzle, and thinking how we could keep it going without paying Performance and Crew properly for all their hard work and professionalism, we decided we have to charge a small fee. Fair Pay for Fair Work we say! And I know we are many who understand that this was the only way forward, to survive and keep Bar Wotever running. It was the ONLY way. So, I trust you are all with us on this!

Various Tuesdays will have various door charge as we try to be as fair as possible, some Open Mic and Fundraising nights will still have a Free Entry! There will always be space to ask and collaborate with us for cheaper entry if one is without much cash – we know this way to well… So, join in, help us out with this. We never ever want Bar Wotever to be a money making mega thang, but we want to survive and thrive with more and better shows to offer our Queer & LGBT fans here in London and all over the world.

Thank YOU for understanding!

“Wotever World seems also to be a state of mind, a very friendly and welcoming state of mind indeed.” Remotegoat

“Erasing all boundaries and stereotypes from the blackboard this innovative night featured a wealth of the smartest, sexiest and most unique performers who encourage different ways of gender expressions.” QX Magazine

“Everyone on my first visit just before Christmas 2013 were so open, accepting and so, so friendly. What an amazing energy.” Bobby G

Great Readings by S. Bear Bergman at Bar Wotever

Author and activist S. Bear Bergman came and shared his wisdom and knowledge at Bar Wotever Tuesday 18 Feb 2014

From my FaceBook ramblings:

‘How great it is to sit back, knowing and trusting the person on stage will say and express motions and ideas you and your mind want to hear, understand and have experienced. Sometimes, life is tough as you have to fight, always feel ‘wrong’ having to explain to others why you look like you do, love and have sex with the people you do, then this bliss by NOT having to ‘fight’ and explain or even to feel wrong… is such a bliss. The packed room of RVT last night was breathing in synch, lapping up S. Bear Bergmans every word, every motion. It is rare we have this, but when we do – it is oh so delightful.

We need more of our own kind of recognition, understanding and shared knowledge, and yes I know there were people who this might not have been their life/experience – but oh how lovely that at least you got to hear this too! As we all get richer the more stories and varieties we hear and share…

Widen the nets and we will have a better understanding!

Thank you all who gave support to this event! Maria, Liam, Dr J, Neil, Jo Bunny and RVT and above all S. Bear Bergman! We keep on sharing, and next Tuesday we do even MORE! X’

Royal Variety Show

IMG_5419-meFor me there’s never any doubt, Tuesdays have a special flavour, a glow of expectation and excitement. Over the years we have done Bar Wotever – week after week, each night unique and never repeated. High energy, low energy, giggles, tears and meetings. There have been high octane headbanging to Rage Against the Machine after protests and amazement after shared stories. Plenty of dancing and many quiet talks in the corner.
Bar Wotever have been my Saturday Night for a long time and tonight, this Tuesday I want to celebrate it all with you. Everyone attending leave a mark and are special, no matter why turning up… for some this is just a pub with open doors for others it is like church, a must-do in an otherwise hectic and chaotic world and week. For some it is comfy as coming home, getting your feet up and relax as if in your own living room, and instead of turning the TV on, you get a Royal Variety Show. Every Tuesday. Enjoy!

This is what he say about his show…

‘I’m a romance-a-holic. I am quitting though – cold turkey. That’s why I’ve come to this meeting, for support”. An exposing, absurd, funny and tender look at queer relationships including run-ins with the polyamory police, online dating mishaps, not quite living up to our ideals and how relationship scripts and bigger political systems like policing and prisons affect our relationships. ‘

“Beautiful, articulate, well considered and very sophisticated…Complex and difficult subjects are delivered in the most accessible and authentic way. It’s light hearted, fresh and wank free…. Sunny Drake is a progressive queer visionary.” (Samesame.com, Melbourne, Australia)
