On the 14th October Wotever World will return to Brighton for one day of mega events! To start the day, FKA, Ingo, Lysander, and Harry from Wotever World, will be running a workshop for those who are either at the beginning of their stage life or those who have begun their stage life and want to know a little more about advancing it as a career/hobbie. Perhaps you arrive with an act idea already in mind and want to test it out? Maybe you have already taken to the stage a handful of times? Or perhaps you have always wanted to perform but needed that extra push from a group of supportive queers? Either way, this workshop is for YOU!  If you have things to say or show on stage, this workshop can help by providing you with a safer environment for you to test, learn and share material, tips, and talent! This workshop aims to help more LGBTIAQ+ people share their own individual stories, writing, and lip synch on stage, you may then have the possibility to take to the stage later in the evening during our queer variety show!

For just £5 we will cover:

  • Mic Technique
  • Backing Tracks
  • Bringing acts from mind to stage
  • Stage presence
  • Lip Sync technique

After this two hour workshop, you may want to join us the same evening for our 7pm queer variety show! We very much encourage QPOC, Trans, and Older Folk to join us for this mega workshop but all are welcome!

If hanging around and learning from a group of LGBTIAQ+ ICONS sounds like the place for you to spend one Autumn Saturday afternoon on the 14th October, then contact woteverworld@gmail.com or woteverworldbiz@gmail.com to book yourself a place for only £5!

Bar Wotever get a New Manager

Bar Wotever Changes Managers.

In March we announced at our birthday party that Bar Wotever will be changing managers. Ingo will be leaving as the Bar Wotever Manager in order to put their focus and energy into other exciting  Wotever World Events. As the creator of Wotever World and Bar Wotever, Ingo has been managing ALL Wotever World events for the past 14 years. Now as Wotever World is expanding and becoming high in demand, Ingo has decided to bring in a loyal helping hand to help with the smooth runnings of Bar Wotever.

unnamedThe new manager of Bar Wotever will now be the fabulous Lysander Dove. Lysander have been part of the Wotever Crew for many years and been our amazing Stage Manager the last two. From the 1st July, Lysander will be steering the ship of Bar Wotever as it’s new manager. If you would like to contact us regarding anything to do with Bar Wotever, please email us on barwoteverinfo [at] gmail  [dot] com, where Lysander (or another member of our team) will get back to you as soon as possible. Please join us in July to give Lysander the warmest of welcomes and support him with this new adventure!

…playing a poignant cover version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

This landed in our inbox recently.

Hey 🙂 I was at the RVT last night, it was my last night in London on this very emotional visit, used to live here. I was completely taken with the performances. Couldn’t help recording a bit of Miri doing Cyndi Lauper. This is what I wrote when I got home last night:

My London guide for May 2017:

Bar Wotever AudienceGo see Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf before it closes. This is acting.
Go see Elton John’s collection at Tate Modern. This is photography.
Sophie Calle at the Photographer’s Gallery is also photography, and much more, if you have ever lost a loved one. Go see that.
See Hockney at Tate Britain, they tell me, though if they try to sell you a ticket to enter 4 hours later then, like, fuck it.
Spend time with friends. See what they’re up to.
Go to the places you went to with friends who are now gone.
Try again the things you have quit.
Go somewhere that’s very green, then go somewhere that’s very grey.
Go to the Royal Vauxhall Tavern on a Tuesday. The people are different but it smells the same.
Listen to a Saudi-Lebanese 20 year-old Business student express his fears about the future of the world.
Unprompted, tell someone you have decided you prefer American hypocrisy over English passive-aggression, then worry that you’ve offended them.
Ride the tube, at rush hour, from Bank. Be like, there are too many people in this city.
MIRI at Bar WoteverListen to the sound of bus tires on puddles, again and again, filtered through your headphones playing a poignant cover version of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.
Go home.’  Shahaf Ifhar

Diane Torr, Rest in Power

15826216_10154487232238393_4949428711507515547_nDiane Torr, leader of the pack has passed!

She passed peacefully with friends and family in Glasgow 31st May 2017

Diane Torr,  Drag King, Educator and Human Extraordinaire is gone. We will miss her and her contributions for a more gender variety accepting & understanding world. Her wicked sense of humour that sometimes was unbearably dark. Her Mischief, Creativity and Kindness.
She was a Trailblazer and we will remember her with a big smile and gratitude. You made the world better Diane!
Thank You!

Me and Diane Torr Glasgow, Sep 2016I knew her as a performer, and then someone who became my friend. She asked me to come with her to Stockholm and Sweden for two ‘Man For a Day’ workshops she lead there,  b/w photo at the top is from one of these, she wanted me to assist her with make up and knowledge for these workshops. She had expensive taste and seeing her going out and order food and drink with someone else’s money was a joy to behold!  And so was the tenderness and ease she guided and lead women to start taking up more space, walk with mor confidence and using their voices in a different way at these workshops. I know that these exercises lead by Diane changed many women’s lives.

I saw her the last time in September when I was in Glasgow and we met up, and she told me about her diagnose and her plans on what to do after it was sorted out..

I hope that by the end  she knew  how much she was Loved and Treasured within our community and world. She really was one of a kind!

I really hope that we are many who keep on carry her legacy of do whatever we want to do and by doing so, touching and helping many people along our way. Because Diane, you did. You were a trailblazer and a person I will miss A LOT! Gender Bending and Gender Blending Rule!

Rest in Power

I met Flare for the first time back in 2004 at The Great Big, a Washington DC, Drag King event put together by Ken Vegas & DC Kings Brolo. For me it was the biggest Drag King event I’ve ever attended then and for ever, super smooth and AMAZING production. I was lucky enough to stay over at Ken’s, where they said I should def met Flare – And I did! Bromance and Friendship over the years, re connecting thanks to Facebook and Now they will be here, doing their first ever gig in Europe with us at Bar Wotever! It will be special and I can not be happier to see them again after 13 years!!

Kudos to all Queers who keep on doing what we do for the love of it! <3

Flare.Old FashionedMore about Flare the entertainer;
