London Pride Weekend

It’s Pride in London weekend this weekend and we have heard some of our favourite acts will be embracing the Pride Stages!

There are many stages places around Soho for Pride in London including the Main Stage, The Cabaret Stage, and The Womans Stage!

On the new Cabaret Stage on Dean Street you can witness not one but FOUR Drag Kings, Adam All, Frankie Sinatra, Louis Cypher, and Benjamin Butch will be embracing the stage with their talents. On The same Stage you can catch the breathtakingly brilliant Lady FKA and out Host throughout August, Sadie Sinner The Songbird! All of these beautiful humans plus SO many more acts will perform across the London Stages!

On The Womans Stage will be Team Radio Diva, and comedians and co-hosts Rosie Wilby and Jen Brister will be joined by the one and only Heather Peace. Plus so many more fabulous performers!

On Sunday, UK Black Pride will be taking place in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. Here you can see some AMAZING performances including headline acts from FKA and Travis Alabanza! Starting from 12pm until 21:30!

“UK Black Pride promotes unity and co-operation among all Black people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Latin American descent, as well as their friends and families, who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender.”

If big crowds is not really your thing, you can catch many Before and After Parties including Tonights Glory Gala in Stoke Newington with performances from some of the Man Up and Lipsync 1000 Finalists. Tomorrow Butch Pride will be at The Basement in The Glory, and Dalston Superstore will be throwing a mega party until 4am.

Remember to stay safe during Pride, stay in a group and never leave your friend on their own, take plenty of water with you to stay hydrated, and remember to enjoy and be PROUD of who YOU are! You can celebrate in any way you like, we will be celebrating every Tuesday of the year!

Bar Wotever Fundraiser For LGBTQ+ Activist Groups in Egypt

This weeks Bar Wotever will be a fundraiser in aid of raising money for Bedayaa, an LGBTQ+ activist group in Egypt!

💚💚💚💚

This evening we are joined by Shrouk El-Attar and Katy Jalili

“Young Egyptians are rising up! In the past 6 years activist groups have formed and started standing up for our rights; groups like Bedayaa (2010), Rainbow Egypt (2012), and Mesahat (2015) are new activist groups that support LGBT+ Egyptians and letting us know that, against everything we are taught growing up in our school books, Queer people are still human and we deserve to exist in dignity in our own country.” – Shrouk El-Attar

17973704_640932159425847_7280121347538961436_oDancing Queer  will be performing on the line up! ‘Egypt is known as the capital of Belly Dancing. It is also a country where LGBT+ people are legally imprisoned, tortured, and thrown into Mental Asylums for life.

The Egyptian Refugee Belly Dancer, Dancing Queer الراقصة المثلية, will give a very authentic performance with a twist that protests the treatment of LGBT+ people persecuted around the world just for being who they are.’

Also on the line up we have the incredible Drag King Gusher. ‘Gusher is a black drag king who performs lip-syncs to popular R&B songs. Gusher is about taking up space, challenging gender norms & POC visibility in the drag king scene. Making it to the finals of Man Up at The Glory twice in a row and debut show at the National Theatre last year, Gusher returns with smooth and sexy show for their first performance at the RVT. In full support of queer folx in Cairo.’
