SPINSTER – OPEN MOUTHS – WOMAN E
This one is filled with some of our favorite bands that we have had on stage at Bar Wotever
The evening will be filled with Live Music, Cabaret, Stockings, Lipstick & Plenty of Dancing!
You are invited to Go Go Dance, Prance and Sway about to their tunes!
On Stage we have;
SPINSTER -It’s hard to pigeon-hole Spinster’s sound. With the skiffle naivety of singer Sadie Lee’s electric ukulele, Em Fitzgerald’s throaty bass riffs and Kathy Gledhill’s Hammond-organ-like keyboards , Spinster could be The Coral’s tomboy sisters. Comparisons have been made, from the Mo Tucker/ Nico-fronted era of Velvet Underground, to 1970’s Cabaret Glam groups like Fox and Sailor. Lee’s original songs are so darn catchy they stick in the mind on first hearing. Spinster is girls, singing about girls. Nostalgia never sounded so contemporary.
OPEN MOUTHS – Profane & hilarious dark cabaret trio The Open Mouths mask the pain with mascara, and deliver glitter stained tales from the wilder shores of deviant desire & doomed ambition. Their witty pop songs and sordid showtunes reveal a world of special hugs, sauna suicides & sadistic tops, where ‘No’ inevitably means ‘Yes’. “Great songs that you can sing along to after a solitary play and would be all over radio and MTV if it wasn’t for the level of profanity and black humour…. Bloody brilliant.”
WOMAN E - a London based electro pop band who released their debut single in September of last year to great critical acclaim. They have been featured in i-D magazine, Mixmag and Gay Times. Sounds like, a happy Bjork with Robyn as a back up singer.
All the bands will play longer sets, like 30 minutes or so, and we will fill the night with DJs entertaining you with various tunes, before, inbetween and after…..
